Either way, regardless of whether China would vote for Clinton or Trump, this is no more than a sandbox game. An appealing, and hopefully not appalling, U.S.-China relation ultimately rests with fellow Americans' decisions and President Clinton's or President Trump's wisdoms. It is your move, Uncle Sam.
I do think that the responsible leadership of China would favor Clinton over Trump for the reason that the Trump (and Republican) policies are "unstable". Looking at the security policies, I can agree that the current Obama "rebalance to Asia" policy appears to be aggressive. But this is, to my mind, only a superficial appearance. Indeed, it is very much like the anti-Assad policy about Syria. It is not firmly-held. It is, to a great extent, mere "window dressing" to prevent the (more warlike) Republican Party from accusing the Democrats of "weakness toward China". There is reason to hope that a less-confrontational US policy will emerge if China and the US can continue negotiating their relationship after the Democrats have won this ridiculous election. While the 9-Dash Line is unrealistic, there are possibilities of negotiating the departure of US forces from South Korea, the recognition that the entire Korean Peninsula is a Chinese security zone, and that Taiwan reunification is desireable. But during an election no US political party can concede that. Of course, the US withdrawal from Korea would require that China replace the Kim regime and remove its nuclear weapons. But that would be desireable in-itself for China.
The economic relationship between China and the US has been mutually-beneficial. The trade complaints about China are exaggerated because of domestic political necessity. As for "lectures" about human rights in China, these of of little importance.
Surely if the Chinese ruling clique can make its preferences felt in the U.S. elections, other countreies - such as Bhutan, Mongolia, S Korea (though perhaps not N Korea) should have a say too? And VIetnam, Brunei, Indonesia - all the countries that have territorial issues with the expansionist Chinese.
